Food and Drink

I provide nutritious home cooked meals and snacks for children of all ages and am registered with Environmental Health. I have completed and passed the CIEH Food Safety in Catering and CIEH Healthier Food and Special Diets courses.

FoodandDrinkPicture1The menu for the week is displayed in the setting and a copy is available in advance to aid planning at home. Water is available at all times for children; with a selection of fresh juices, squash and milk being available at meals and snack time.

I like to use the vegetables and fruit which are grown in the garden in my cooking and think this gives children some understanding as to where our food comes from. We tend to the plants whilst they grow and pick them when they are ready. I also like to cook with the children and once prepared, this forms part of snack time or meal time.item1

We eat snacks and meals together at the dining table and I have booster seats and highchairs to meet the individual needs of the children in my care. I believe it is important to eat meals together as this encourages children to try new foods with their peers and also aids their social development. I encourage children to try new foods and flavours; particularly when we explore different cultures and countries through our snacks and meals but never force a child to eat a food. I also cater for specific dietary requirements.
